Sept. 27, 1999

Colorado Springs, Colo. – BYU senior forward Maren Hendershot has been selected as the Mountain West Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week. Hendershot has started all 10 matches this season for the Cougars and leads the team with six goals and five assists for a total of 17 points. This past week, BYU improved its overall record to 9-1 as it defeated Washington 3-0 and Pacific 2-0 in Provo, Utah.

Hendershot, of Colorado Springs, Colo. (Doherty High School), scored two goals on five shots in two matches over the weekend. Against Washington, her goal came at the 28:53 mark of the first half and gave the Cougars a 2-0 lead. In the Pacific match, Hendershot netted her fifth goal of the season on a break away in the 15th minute, and secured the 2-0 BYU victory.

This is the first player of the week honor for Hendershot this season and the second for BYU.
