This will be a big week for the Mountain West Conference as it plays three teams currently ranked in the Top 7 of the NSCAA/adidas national rankings. The conference is 0-5 vs. ranked opponents so far in 2004. BYU tangles with No. 6 Portland, while Utah is at No. 7 UCLA on Friday (Oct. 1). No. 3 Washington is at San Diego State on Sunday (Oct. 3).

Utah has won three games in a row and is currently ranked No. 8 in the West region (NSCAA/adidas regional ranking).
