COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Going in to the fourth week of non-conference competition, the MWC's record stands at 20-16-3 on the season. The BYU Cougars knocked off another ranked opponent last week, defeating No. 14 Kentucky, 2-1, in Lexington, Ky. The Mountain West is now 3-4-1 against ranked opponents this season, led by the Cougars 2-0-1 mark against the Top-25. This week will see all seven Mountain West institutions play a non-conference slate. League leader Utah (4-1-0) starts the week off at Utah State on Tues., Sept. 16. Other notable matches this week include second-place Air Force at Cal Poly, BYU vs. Montana, UNLV at Nevada and San Diego State at Southern Utah. MWC Quick Hits Air Force * Air Force's 4-1 start this season is its best ever at the Division I level. Its previous best was 2-2-1 in 2001. * Senior midfielder Leigh-Anne Withers' game-winning goal vs. Drake was her first goal of the season. * Freshman defender Ashley Parker collected her first career assist in the Drake game. * The Falcons have out scored their opponents, 7-1, in the first half of games this season. BYU * Senior midfielder Aleisha Rose set three Cougar records for assists in the 5-0 win over Southern Utah. She tallied four assists in the match, setting new BYU records for most assists in a single match and most assists in a single match at South Stadium and became the No. 1 all-time assist leader in BYU history. * BYU increased their season record against ranked opponents to 2-0-1 with its 2-1 victory over No. 14 Kentucky. * Seven different Cougars found the back of the net last week, BYU recorded nine goals in three matches. New Mexico * Junior goalkeeper Kristen Winters is fourth in the MWC in saves per game with 6.67. San Diego State * Senior forward Kim Castellanos leads the conference in shots per game (4.00), is tied for the lead in goals per game (1.00) and is second in points per game (2.00) and game-winning goals (one). UNLV * Junior forward/midfielder Annii Magliulo leads the Mountain West in points (16), points per game (2.29), goals (seven), goals per game (1.00) and shots (25). Utah * Utah got its first shutout of the season in its 3-0 win over Weber State. Freshman goalkeeper Ashley Mason played the first half, making three saves, and freshman goaie Kaycie Zimmerman played the second half, making four saves. * Ashley Mason has only given up two goals in four matches this season for a 0.67 goals against average. * The Utes moved into the national Top 25 rankings for the first time last week. Utah was 24th in the Soccer America Magazine poll. * Utah has been shutout only once this season, losing, 1-0, to No. 6 Texas A&M on Sept. 5. In its other four games, Utah has scored at least three goals. Wyoming * Wyoming recorded its third victory of the season last weekend. The Cowgirls won four games all of last season. * Freshman forward Christine Nagel continues to lead the team in shots, with 22 on the year and also has a goal.
* Wyoming's 9-1 victory over Jackson State marks its largest margin of victory in the programs history.
