Air Force To Take On Army and Delaware AT BAE Systems Classic

The Air Force women's soccer team (1-5-1) travels east to take part in the Army Tournament this weekend in West Point, N.Y. The Falcons take on service academy rival Army (3-3-0) on Friday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m. and Delaware (5-0-1) on Sunday, Sept. 17 at 1 p.m. at Clinton Field.

Recapping The Last Three Matches

The Falcons are 1-2-0 in its last three games. Last Thursday, the Falcons lost 3-1 at #14 Cal in its opening game at the SMC Fall Classic in Moraga, Calif. Katherine Taylor notched the teams' first goal of the season, snapping a 419 minute scoreless streak to start the year. On Saturday, the Falcons got their first win of the season, downing tournament host Saint Mary's 2-1. Rhett Chase scored the first goal off a corner kick and Corbin Sanford netted the game winner. On Tuesday the Falcons lost 1-0 at Northern Colorado in double overtime.

Statistical Leaders

Sophomores Katherine Taylor and Corbin Sanford and junior Rhett Chase are tied for the team lead with one goal apiece. Sophomore Erin Wallace has started six of the seven games at goalkeeper for the Falcons and has a 1.59 goals-against-average to go with 23 saves on the year.

History Against The Opponents

- Air Force is 5-6-0 all time vs. Army. The Falcons defeated the Black Knights, 2-1, at the Toys for Tots Tournament in St. Louis last year. The Falcons play at West Point for the first time since 1992, where the Falcons lost 2-1.

- The Falcons take on Delaware for the first time ever.

Scouting The Opponents

Army is 3-3-0 on the season after losing to Minnesota, 1-0, and defeating Marist, 3-0, at the Brown Invitational. Sophomore midfielder Sarah Goss leads the team with two goals scored. Senior Rebecca Garcia has started all six games in front of the net for the Black Knights and has a 0.99 GAA with 32 saves.

Delaware is off to its best start in school history with a 5-0-1 mark after tying Yale, 1-1, and downing Lehigh, 2-1, as it hosted the Delaware Blue Hen Adidas Classic last weekend. Senior forward Lindsay Boyd leads the team with five goals scored. Senior Bonnie Mills has started all six games at goalkeeper and has a 0.50 GAA to go with 32 saves.

Up Next

Air Force has three games on its slate again next week, as they take on Colorado College, Sacramento State and Stephen F. Austin. The Falcons take on inner-city rival C.C. on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at Stewart field downtown, beginning at 7 p.m. Air Force then plays host to Cal-State Sacramento on Friday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m. and SFA on Sunday, Sept. 24 at Noon.
