Sept. 10, 2001

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Air Force senior midfielder Beth Boyer has been named the Mountain West Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week after helping the Falcons post a 1-0-1 record over the weekend at the Idaho State Tournament in Pocatello, Idaho. This is the second player of the week honor of her career, with the last award coming in the final week of the 1999 season.

Boyer, a product of Waukee, Iowa, scored four goals in a 5-2 win over Weber State on Saturday, setting a new single-game record for both goals (4) and points (8) at the Academy and in the Mountain West Conference. Boyer opened the scoring vs. the Wildcats at the 22:40 mark and added her second goal in the 36th minute to give Air Force a 2-0 lead at the half. She added two more goals in the second half to secure the Falcons victory. Two of Boyer's goals were unassisted, while one came off a penalty kick. Air Force tied Idaho State on Sunday in the championship game (0-0), but won the title on goals allowed.
