Colorado Springs, Colo. ­ Brigham Young University junior midfielder Natalyn Lewis has been selected as the first-ever Mountain West Conference women¹s soccer player of the week after leading the Cougars to a 3-0 start in 1999.

Lewis, of Idaho Fall, Idaho (Skyline high School), scored two goals in each of BYU¹s wins over No. 20 Northwestern (8-1) and Montana (3-2) at the Montana Soccer Showdown in Missoula, Mont. Lewis scored the first goal in the match vs. Northwestern at the 14:40 mark of the first half and added her second goal at the 61:16 mark to put BYU up 6-0. The Cougars went on to win the match 8-1. Against Montana, Lewis opened the Cougar scoring with a goal in the eighth minute, giving BYU a 1-0 lead. She struck again in the 29th minute to put BYU ahead 3-1 going into the half. Montana pulled within one goal in the second half, but the Cougars held on to win 3-2.
