COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - New Mexico freshman midfielder Nicole Reed and TCU senior midfielder Caroline Starns have been named Mountain West Conference Women's Soccer Co-Offensive Players of the Week, while TCU sophomore Cheryl Martin was named the Defensive Player of the Week.

Reed, a native of Whitter, Calif., netted the first goal of her collegiate career to give New Mexico a 1-0 win over Drake in the University of New Mexico Classic. The true freshman received a cross from fellow freshman Jael Fanning and beat the keeper with a one timer that found the back of the net.

Starns, an Arlington, Texas, native, scored the game-winning goal in TCU's 1-0 victory at Northern Arizona. The senior also contributed three shots on goal, while tallying her first score of the season.

Martin, who hails from Las Vegas, Nev., was the defensive key to TCU's back-to-back road shutout victories at Arizona State and at Northern Arizona. The sophomore helped hold the Sun Devils to just five shots on goal, while NAU only amassed four. ASU had scored six goals in its first three matches and had not been shut out until TCU's 1-0 victory.
