Sept. 2, 2008

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - TCU freshman forward Jordan Calhoun and UNLV junior goalkeeper Alicia Lugo have been named Mountain West Conference Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Calhoun, a native of Norman, Okla., netted two goals, including one as time expired in the first half, in a 3-0 win over Xavier. With the two-goal performance, Calhoun became the first freshman in TCU program history to net back-to-back two-goal outings the first two games of a career. Against SEC opponent Ole Miss, Calhoun scored TCU's final goal of the game, sending the game into overtime, which ultimately resulted in a 2-2 tie.

Lugo, a Lancaster, Calif., native, did not allow a goal over the weekend while leading UNLV to two victories in the UNLV Rebel Classic. Against Nevada, Reno, she shut out the Wolf Pack before leaving the game with the Rebels up, 5-0. She played all 90 minutes in the contest vs. Pacific, making three saves and earning her second shutout of the season.
