Women's Soccer Weekly Release
Aug. 31, 2010 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - MWC Women's Soccer Weekly Release 8-31-10 Mountain West Conference women's soccer teams went a combined 8-6-1 during the second weekend of non-conference play. UNLV remained perfect by netting back-to-back home wins over Albany (5-2) and Louisiana-Monroe (4-0) at the Las Vegas Invitational, while New Mexico recorded a 1-0 overtime victory over No. 23 Marquette to capture the Milwaukee Cup tournament title. No. 13/12 BYU won its only contest of the weekend, downing Weber State, 5-2. UNLV senior forward Ashleigh Shoughro began the weekend by recording her first career hat trick, netting four goals in the Rebels' 5-2 victory over Albany on Friday. That mark ties an MWC single-game record and sets a new UNLV single-game high. Only four other players in Conference history have scored four goals in one match. BYU's Bobbi Tillotson was the last to accomplish that feat against Air Force in 2005. BYU is ranked 13th and 12th in the latest NSCAA and Soccer America Top 25 polls, respectively. Following a 2-0-1 start to the season, New Mexico is receiving votes in the NSCAA poll.
