Wyoming Soccer Announces 2007 Recruiting Class Cowgirls ink five players to National Letters of Intent.
Feb. 20, 2007 LARAMIE, Wyo. - University of Wyoming head soccer coach Anne Moore announced today the signing of five student athletes to National Letters of Intent to attend Wyoming in the fall of 2007. Bostyn Burger, a Defender/Midfielder from Phoenix, Ariz.; Kayla Rae Davis, a Midfielder from Sacramento, Calif.; Tailor Dial, a Defender from Murray Utah; Jerrica DiVincenzo, a Forward from Fullerton, Calif.; and Jessica Smith, a Defender from Edmond Wash.; will all join the Cowgirls this fall. "We have exceptional size and strength with our 2007 class of incoming freshmen," Moore said. "Our focus this year was to replace our backline which had been together for four years and to bring back that physical aspect of Wyoming Soccer. The 2007 class also brings speed and agility to add some offensive prowess to our lineup." "The 2007 signees should all make an immediate impact on our program's success as true freshmen and we look forward to getting our team together and seeing what they are capable of." Following is a list of the 2007 soccer signees:
Bostyn Burger, 5'4", Defender/Midfielder, Phoenix, Ariz. (Gilbert High School)
Burger has also excelled in the classroom. As a freshman she earned the Fabulous Freshman award, two super sophomore awards, she was a Golden Scholar and is a member of the National Honors Society. She was also recruited by the University of Iowa and TCU. "Bostyn is one of those special kids whose attitude is infectious," said Moore. "She puts 110% into everything she does and wants success for everyone on her team. She is a savvy soccer player who reads the game incredibly well and is very composed in the back."
Kayla Rae Davis, 5'6", Midfielder, Sacramento, Calif. (Folsom High School)
Davis has also excelled in the classroom by being a National Honor Society member and an Honor Roll member from 2003-2007. She was the English Student of the Year in 2003 and an FCA member from 2003-2005. She was a FHA-HERO and a member of the Interact Club from 2003-2005. She chose Wyoming over the University of Miami, Tennessee, Texas A&M and UC-Riverside. Davis decided to attend the University of Wyoming because she knew Wyoming was beautiful, and after visiting the school she fell in love with the surroundings and her teammates. "Kayla's biggest attribute is her skill and her field awareness," Moore said. "She is a fierce competitor and very intelligent with the ball."
Tailor Dial, 5'9", Defender, Murray, Utah (Murray High School)
"Tailor is a tough competitor and at 5'9" uses her size well to battle for balls in the defensive end of the field," Moore said. "She has great speed and athleticism but it is her tenacity that gives her the edge over an opponent." Jerrica DiVincenzo, 5'8", Forward/Midfielder, Fullerton, Calif. (Sonora High School)
DiVincenzo was selected to the Honor Roll. She was also recruited by Memphis and Cal State Northridge. "Jerrica brings a new dimension to our offensive attack up top and on the wing," said Moore. "Being Italian, she definitely has the flair and skill to take on and beat defenders one-on-one but more importantly, the ability to score goals." Jessica Smith, 5'9", Defender/Midfielder, Edmond Wash. (Edmonds-Woodway High School)
"She is tall, strong, athletic and has a smooth first touch with the ball," Moore said. "We are excited for her to come in and make an immediate impact for our team in the back."
