CONFERENCE QUICK HITS

  • BYU clinched its fifth MWC Tournament title after defeating regular-season champion UNLV, 2-1, in the final. The Cougars received the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
  • With BYU in the 2007 field, the Mountain West Conference now has 20 appearances all-time in the NCAA Soccer Championship. Overall, the conference holds a 10-17-3 record in the tournament.
  • The 2007 NCAA Tournament marks the first year since 2001 that the MWC did not receive multiple bids to the championship. BYU was the lone team to advance to the tournament in 2001.

TEAM QUICK HITS

  • BYU is making its 10th appearance in the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship and eighth as a member of the Mountain West. In BYU's last appearance, the Cougars fell to Portland, 2-1, in the first round. The Cougars' best finish in the NCAA Tournament was an Elite Eight appearance in 2003.
  • The Cougars hold a 1-1 all-time record vs. Texas. The teams last met in 2005, with BYU taking a 1-0 win in Provo, Utah.
  • BYU is just (0-0-1) vs. this year's NCAA tournament field, despite playing six teams from the Big Ten, Big 12 and Pac-10 Conferences during the regular season. The Cougars' only meeting with an NCAA Tournament participant was then-#18/#25 Colorado on September 8 that resulted in a tie, 0-0.
