LARAMIE, Wyo. (Oct. 23, 2005) - The TCU Horned Frogs suffered a 2-0 defeat at Wyoming on Sunday afternoon. The Frogs couldn't match the speed of the Wyoming forwards as they were outshot 20-7 in the match. Kim Thompson led the offensive push for the Frogs taking two shots that drifted just wide of the goal.

Wyoming found themselves with early scoring chances and finally made one count. The Cowgirls connected to take the early 1-0 lead in the seventh minute of play. Amanda Lathrop fed the ball down the far side to Tamika Wilson. A Frog defender fell down in the penalty area, freeing up Mercy Adetoye for the cross from Wilson. Adetoye's low shot beat Katy Buchanan low and to the left side.

The Cowgirls increased their lead with just under 10 minutes left in the first half. Christina Best served another long ball down field that was picked up by Adetoye, who blasted the shot past Buchanan for her second of the game to give Wyoming a 2-0 lead.

The Wyoming back four proved to be a formidable wall for the Frogs offense. Any deep drive the TCU offense put together were quickly squelched by the Cowgirl defense. Caroline Starns penetrated the defense once in the first half, taking a solid shot from the top of the 18-yard box, forcing Cowgirl goalkeeper Ashley Sheppard to make the save.

The Frogs battled in the second half, but couldn't find any open spaces to get good shots off. Kim Thompson came off the bench and fired two long shots towards the goal, but couldn't connect.

TCU's best opportunity to tally a goal came late in the second half when Wyoming was whistled for a foul deep in the Frogs offensive zone. Moran Lavi took the free kick from the right side of the goal and sent it perfectly in towards the goal where the ball bounced around. The Frogs couldn't get a clean shot off and the Wyoming defense booted the ball out of danger.

Katy Buchanan surrendered two goals and made three saves in her effort to keep the Frogs in the match.

The Frogs (6-9, 1-5) will wrap-up their regular season next weekend when they travel to New Mexico. The Saturday tilt is scheduled for an 8:00 start on the New Mexico campus.
