COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of New Mexico women's soccer team improved its overall record to 5-6-4 after beating the U.S. Air Force Academy this afternoon, 2-1, in its last road game of the regular season. The Lobos' Mountain West Conference record moved to 2-3-1 while the Falcons' conference record fell to 0-6.

In the first half, New Mexico got on the board first when junior defender Alanna Abeyta scored her first career goal. UNM's midfielder Eryn Paetz took a menacing shot that was saved by an AFA defender. The deflected ball found its way to New Mexico's forward Kristine Sweat who sent a shot to the right side, causing Air Force goalkeeper Erin Wallace to make a diving block. Abeyta cleaned up on the rebound from 10 yards in front of the goal.

New Mexico's second goal came in the second half from junior midfielder Kellee Hafner. After the ball bounced off an Air Force defender, Hafner was there to collect the rebound and take a shot from 20 yards out that flew over the keeper's head. The goal was Hafner's second this season and third career.

Air Force's solo goal came late in the second half when defender Ashley Parker scored off a free kick from behind the midfield line.

The Lobos are back at the UNM Soccer Complex Saturday Oct. 29 to host TCU for the last game of the regular season. Match time is set for 7 p.m. For ticket information call 925-LOBO.
