PROVO, Utah -- The BYU women's soccer team (8-0-0) won it's eighth game in a row on Saturday, defeating Colgate 2-0. BYU was named champions of the Big Toe Invitational by defeating the Patriots, as well as No. 14 Wisconsin on Friday.

"We did what we needed to do to win tonight," head coach Jennifer Rockwood said. "It wasn't one of our best performances, and the win didn't come easy. It was a really had fought battle."

Brooke Bowman added a spark for the Cougars in the 29th minute when Jaime Rendich Beck saw Bowman open, crossing the ball from the right side of the field. Bowman found it and headed the ball into the top left corner of the net for her first goal of the season.

Annie Zwahlen scored the second goal of the game, also off an assist from Rendich Beck, in the 78th minute. The goal marked her first of the season.

BYU dominated the Patriots, recording 18 shots and 9 shots on goal to Colgate's two.

Goal keep Erika Woodbury had two saves in 90 minutes of action.

The Cougars return to Provo this weekend with games against No. 11 California at Berkley on Friday, and Eastern Washington on Saturday. Game times are slated for 7 p.m., at South Stadium.

"We're really proud about the way the girls played this week," Rockwood said. "Winning three games in one week, especially against such great caliber, should be a big confidence booster. We fought hard and found ways to win. We showed perseverance and a positive attitude. And we're really excited about coming home and playing in front of our amazing crowd."
