ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- New Mexico women's soccer extended its winning streak to three games with a 3-1 victory over Utah Valley State Saturday at the UNM Soccer Complex. The Lobos outshot the Wolverines, 36-3, with goals by Kate Wyrick, Jennifer Nielsen and Hannah Hand. UNM improved to 3-1 overall, while UVSC falls 0-1-1.

Wyrick scored the only goal of the first half in the 17th minute on an assist from senior Amber Wetsch. Wetsch sent a cross that allowed Wyrick to beat the keeper for her first career goal.

In the second period, UNM jumped ahead 2-0 in the 48th minute after Nielsen scored on a give-n-go down the left side. Senior Anna Neu made a nice feed to hit Nielsen for her first collegiate goal.

Utah Valley State struck in the 59th minute, scoring on a loose ball off the hands of UNM goalkeeper Kiani Wong. Wong mishandled a shot by Nicole Archibald allowing Athena Bradshaw to find the net.

Hand sealed the win for New Mexico in the 66th minute with her second goal of the year. Hand lined a free kick from 25 yards out into the net and put the Lobos ahead, 3-1.

UNM had 23 second half shots compared 13 in the opening period. The Lobos had four corner kicks and nine shots on goal.

The Lobos travel to Virginia next weekend to battle Colorado Friday and Arizona Sunday. For more information about UNM athletics visit www.GoLobos.com.
