LAS VEGAS - UNLV remained undefeated this season after holding off Pacific 1-0 thanks to an own goal by the Tigers in women's collegiate soccer action on Saturday afternoon from Peter Johann Memorial Field. The game was the second of the UNLV Nike Classic, and the win pushed UNLV to 3-0-1, while also increasing its home undefeated streak to 12 games. Pacific meanwhile dropped to 1-2 on the year.

The lone goal of the game came in the 79th minute. With the Rebels on the attack, sophomore forward Ashleigh Shoughro dribbled down the right side and sent in a perfect cross in front of the goal where two teammates were waiting to knock it in on the left side of the goal. In an attempt to get the ball out of the box, a Pacific defender came in at the last second to kick the ball away, but had no chance of stopping the ball and instead knocked in right into her own net from three yards out for an own goal, and a 1-0 Rebel lead.

UNLV held a slight 10-6 edge on shots, and 4-3 on shots on goal. Alicia Lugo posted three saves in the net to earn her second shutout of the season, while Amanda McNab was also credited with three saves in goal for the Tigers.

UNLV will return to action this weekend, going on the road to face Cal State Northridge on Friday, Sept. 5 at 4:30 pm, and Long Beach State on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 12 pm.
