COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UNLV freshman Sunny Oh was named Mountain West Conference Women's Golfer of the Month for October after leading the Rebels in each of the last three tournaments. In her first year as a collegiate golfer, Oh has improved by five strokes or more in each of the four tournaments she has competed in this fall. Over the past month, she placed 15th at the Price's Give Em Five Invitational in Las Cruces, N.M., fifth at the Mercedes-Benz Women's Intercollegiate in Knoxville, Tenn., and tied for first at the Las Vegas Founders' Women's Showdown. Her 10-over par 226 (74-75-77) in Las Cruces, N.M., bettered her first collegiate outing by 10 strokes. A week later at the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate, Oh improved another five strokes after firing a five-over 221 (74-73-74). In her final tournament of the fall in Las Vegas, Oh birdied five of the first seven holes on the back nine of the final round to force a playoff for the individual crown. She parred the extra hole and lost the playoff to New Mexico's Kristi Larsen. Oh shot a personal-best one-under 215 (75-70-70) for the tournament, setting UNLV school records for both low round and 54-hole total low. Oh currently ranks second in the MWC with a 74.8 stroke average over 12 rounds.
