Nov. 6, 2007 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - TCU sophomore Valentine Derrey has been selected the Mountain West Conference Women's Golfer of the Month for October.Derrey, a Paris, France, product, earned her second consecutive monthly honor after capturing two top-10 finishes in as many chances, recording a scoring average of 72.83 over six rounds last month. She began the month with a season-best third-place finish at the Lady Paladin Invitational Oct. 19-21, shooting a five-over-par 221 (73-74-74) on the 6,288-yard Furman University Golf Course in Greensville, S.C. Derrey's efforts led TCU to a 14-stroke victory over No. 20 Notre Dame for the tournament title. At the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown Oct. 29-31, Derrey tied for seventh individually with an even-par 216 (74-69-73) on the 6,050-yard Angel Park Golf Course in Las Vegas, Nev., helping the Horned Frogs to a 10th-place team finish among a field that included nine top-25 programs. Her second-round 69, a personal season-low, currently ranks first in the league for less than 10 rounds played and ties for first overall with New Mexico's Jodi Ewart. Derrey, who is currently ranked No. 13 in the country, is a 2007 All-Mountain West Conference player.
