SANTA ANA PUEBLO, N.M. -- University of New Mexico women's golfer Alexandra Phelps set a new women's course record Thursday at the Santa Ana Golf Club course after shooting a 5-under 66 to win the 63rd annual Albuquerque City Women's Amateur Golf Championship. Phelps, who entered the final round with a two stroke lead, dominated the field winning the event by seven-shots.

Phelps opened the championship with a 67 on Tuesday before shooting a 68 in Wednesday's second round. Her 12-under 201 in the 54-hole event is the lowest in tournament history. In the final round, Phelps had five birdies and did not have a single bogey. Her record setting preformance breaks the previous course mark of 67 by one-stroke. This marks the second time in her career that she has won the event after taking home the title in 2004.

Katie Kempter shot a 71 on the final day and carded a 208 to finish second in what was a two-player battle all week. Linda Branstetter, who is a three-time champion of the event, was third at 222, Jessica Dailleboust fourth at 227 and Susan Daniels fifth at 235.
