COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West Conference released the Spring 2003 Academic All-Conference award winners for spring semester. Included are four UNM women's golfers who are all two-time honorees.

Junior Kellyn Newman and sophomores Kailin Downs, Shannon Johnson and Christina Spence all achieved above a 3.5 grade point average in their course of study to be named Academic All-MWC.

As a team the Lobos finished with a team g.p.a. of 3.33 for the spring semester.

"We're extremely proud of the way our team performs on and off the course," stated head coach Jackie Booth. "They're dedicated to their studies and its a credit to them to be honored for all their hard work."

The Lobos finished the season with three tournament titles, the 2002 Dick McGuire, the Las Vegas Founders Women's Intercollegiate and took their fourth straight MWC Women'as Golf Championships title.
