FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU women's golfer Valentine Derrey overcame a four-shot deficit entering the final round to win The Grand Prix of Palmola in the south of France.

It's the second straight year that Derrey, a Paris, France, native, has taken medalist honors in the event. Her 292 (76-71-71-74) gave her a one-stroke victory. She began the final day, which featured 36 holes, in fourth place.

"I wasn't expecting a victory," Derrey said. "I just played my game and stayed patient."

Derrey will play next week in the European Ladies Team Championship.

A rising senior, Derrey is just the fifth player in TCU history to be a three-time all-conference selection. Named to the Mountain West Conference's 10th-Anniversary Women's Golf Team, Derrey led the Horned Frogs with a 74.8 stroke average this season. She was a 2008 All-American.
