Ten MWC Women's Golfers Named All-American Scholar Recipients
July 1, 2009 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Ten Mountain West Conference women's golfers were named to the National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team for Division I, it was announced today. Five of the seven MWC institutions that sponsor women's golf had student-athletes named to the 2008-09 team, led by New Mexico (Jodi Ewart, Mikaela Backstedt, Rebecca Hellbom) and UNLV (Alejandra Guacaneme, Bethany Glassford, Therese Koelbaek) with three honorees apiece. Melissa Martin and Stefanie Ferguson represented Colorado State, while BYU's Jade Bollinger and TCU's Melissa Loh were also honored. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 50% (Division I) or 66% (Division II & III) of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year. -mwc-
