June 5, 2008

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Three Mountain West Conference women's golfers earned Golfweek All-America honors. TCU's Valentine Derrey was selected to the third team, while New Mexico's Jodi Ewart and UNLV's Therese Koelbaek were named honorable mention.

Derrey, hailing from Paris, France, finished third at the NCAA Central Regional in Austin, Texas, leading TCU to its first back-to-back appearance in the NCAA Championship since 1999-2000. The MWC Co-Golfer of the Year carded a 6-under-par 210 to take medalist honors. She finished tied for 13th at the 2008 MWC Women's Golf Championship, carding a low-round one-over-par 74. For the season, she collected two top-five finishes during the season, including a third-place finish at the Lady Paladin Invitational.

Ewart, a Middleham, North Yorkshire, England, native, claimed her second-consecutive individual title at the 2008 MWC Women's Golf Championship, leading the Lobos to the tournament crown. She is the first MWC golfer to earn back-to-back individual titles. The MWC Co-Golfer of the Year, Ewart finished tied for 36th place with a 12-over-par 228 at the NCAA East Regional in Athens, Ga. Ewart was second in the MWC regular season with a 74.39 stroke average.

Koelbaek finished in first place at the NCAA West Regional in Sacramento, Calif., with a 6-under-par 210, propelling the Rebels to the NCAA Championships. This season, Koelbaek earned MWC Freshman of the Year honors after leading the MWC in stroke average (73.96) and finishing tied for fourth at the MWC Championship. The freshman earned her first collegiate victory at the USF/Richmond Country Club Invitational in November. She shot a 2-over-par 215 to take the win, finishing four strokes better than the second-place individual.
