Mountain West Conference Championship Recap
New Mexico won its second straight conference title after capturing the 2001 MWC Women's Golf Championship Apr. 25 at the Sunriver Resort - The Meadows Course - in Sunriver, Ore. New Mexico won the inaugural MWC Championship last year.

BYU's Carrie Summerhays was named Player of the Year and New Mexico's Kristi Larsen earned Freshman of the Year honors. Jackie Booth of New Mexico garnered Coach of the Year accolades. Summerhays and Larsen were joined by Mayumi Motoyama (CSU), Elisa Kase (UNM), Ryley Webb (UNM) and Joanne Clingan (SDSU) on the All-MWC team.

Mountain West Conference in the NCAA
Four of the five MWC teams earned a berth in the 2001 NCAA Women's Golf Championships. New Mexico and San Diego State traveled to the East Regional in Chapel Hill, N.C., while Colorado State and BYU participated in the West Regional in Corvallis, Ore. The Lobos finished fifth in the East Region and, as a result, earned a berth in the NCAA Finals at Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., where they finished 21st nationally. SDSU tied for 15th in the East Region. Colorado State was 15th in the West Region, followed by BYU at No. 18.
