UNLV HEADS TO NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS AT OHIO STATE

UNLV opens play on May 23 at the NCAA Women's Golf Championships, being played at the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio. The 14th ranked Rebels will be playing in their second NCAA Championship tournament in the five year history of the program. UNLV advanced to the NCAA Championships for the first time in 2004 and both appearances have been under head coach Missy Ringler.

THE FIELD

Arizona, Arizona State, Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, California, Duke, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Kent State, LSU, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Pepperdine, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas A&M, UCLA, UNLV, USC, Wake Forest and Washington.

THE COURSE

The 2006 NCAA Women's Championship is being played on the Scarlet Course on the Ohio State University Golf Course. It is a par-72 course that measures 6,203 yards. The course just finished a major restoration process overseen by Buckeye legend Jack Nicklaus.

THE 2004 NCAA TOURNAMENT

The No. 14 UNLV women's golf team shot its best round in the final round, carding a team 295 to finish 21st at the NCAA Championships, the squad's first trip to the national tournament. The 295 represented the best round of the four for the Rebels, who qualified for the tournament in only the program's third year of existence. Sophomore sensation Sunny Oh led the Rebels, finishing 28th overall at six-over par 294. Oh, the MWC player of the Year, went on to be earn second-team All-America honors from the NGCA, a year after earning honorable mention honors.

REBEL RANKING

The UNLV women's golf team is currently ranked 14th in the country in Golfweek's latest rankings. The highest ranking for the Rebels this season has been eighth, marking the first time in the Rebels' history that the program had been in the top 10.
