A Time To Tee Off The Denver Post Feature Story

By Joseph Sanchez DENVER - In golf, as in other important aspects of life, timing is everything. It's why Lynette Duran, a freshman at Colorado State University, can hit a drive 280 yards right down the middle. It's why she started hitting some short irons dead at the flag at the Mountain West Conference women's golf championships last week, and, of course, is why she started knocking down some easy birdie putts, which also is why she wound up winning the tournament. And that's why - at a time in her life when her body has never been more responsive to developing all those skills - Duran finds herself at the head of a pack of 11 talented Colorado collegians headed for the NCAA West Regional golf tournament, beginning Thursday at Stanford University.
