Sophomore Success Second-year program headed for postseason.
April 28, 2003 The UNLV women's golf team has been selected at-large to compete in the NCAA West Regional, the Division I golf committee announced today. The Rebels earn the postseason berth in just their second year as a program. They will compete against 20 other schools at Arizona State's Karsten Golf Course from May 8-10 for the right to advance to the national finals. "Although I felt all season long that with our record and our ranking we had earned a bid, it's still very exciting and satisfying to have achieved one of our goals," UNLV women's golf head coach Missy Ringler said. Should the Rebels finish among the top eight among the 21-team field, they would advance to the NCAA Championship, slated for Purdue's Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette, Ind., from May 20-23.
UNLV, which finished second last week at the Mountain West Conference Championship, heads to Tempe, Ariz., as the No. 10 seed in the West. The Rebels are currently ranked 31st in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index.
