COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West Conference will have four teams represented in the 2005 NCAA Women's Golf Regionals announced Monday. UNLV earned the automatic berth after winning the Conference championship last week in Sunriver, Ore., and will be joined by BYU, Colorado State and New Mexico. The four teams will play in one of three regional tournaments that will be conducted May 5-7 to determine the championships field.

Mountain West Conference Champion UNLV heads to the NCAA West Regional in Las Cruces, N.M., and will be joined in the field by fellow Conference members BYU and Colorado State. The New Mexico State University Golf Course will host the regional. Eight teams and two individuals will advance from each region.

The 25th-ranked Rebels earned the league's automatic berth in the tournament after winning the conference championship last weekend by two strokes over New Mexico. This will be the second-straight year UNLV has fielded a team at a NCAA Regional in the program's four-year history. In 2004, the Rebels finished second in the East Regional to Duke and advanced the championship field in Opelika, Ala., where they placed 21st.

BYU will be making its fifth appearance in the NCAA Regionals in the last six years and 12th in the past 16. The Cougars placed 13th in the West Regional in 2004.

Colorado State earns its third NCAA Regional invitation in the last five years. The Rams finished 15th and 14th, respectively, in 2001 and 2002.

The 14th-ranked New Mexico Lobos will travel to Lubbock, Texas to play in the Central Regional. Texas Tech University will be the host on the Jerry S. Rawls Course. This marks the 13th consecutive year New Mexico has made postseason action. The Lobos advanced to the NCAA Women's Golf Championships last and finished tied for 15th.

A total of 324 participants have been selected for the three regional competitions. Of these players, 126 will advance to the championships finals May 17-20. Eight teams and two individuals will advance from each region.

The championships finals will be held at Sunriver Resort on the Meadows Course, Sunriver, Oregon, hosted by Oregon State University and Sunriver Resort.
