Ram's Golf Garners Postseason Awards From MWC Colorado State women's golf coach Angie Hopkins was named as the co-Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year Sunday while senior Kristen Campos earned a spot on the all-MWC team.
April 25, 2005 SUNRIVER, Ore. - Colorado State women's golf coach Angie Hopkins was named as the co-Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year Sunday while senior Kristen Campos earned a spot on the all-MWC team. Fellow senior Lynette Duran received the Mountain West Sportsmanship Award as well. Hopkins, in her third season as head coach at CSU, has guided the Rams to seven top-five finishes in 2004-05 including a team title in the 2004 Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic. She becomes only the second coach in Colorado State women's golf history to become conference coach of the year. Amie Jensen won the award in 2000. Hopkins shares this year's award with BYU's Sue Nyhus. Campos, a senior from Mesa, Ariz., claimed all-Mountain West honors after firing a seven-over-par 220 in the MWC Championships over the weekend, good for third place in the event. Campos tied for team honors this season with a 75.89 stroke average while earning three top ten finishes. She becomes CSU's ninth all-conference selection in the history of the program and the first since 2002. Duran, a senior from Lakewood, Colo., received the Mountain West's Sportsmanship Award after netting a 76.46 stroke average for the Rams in 2004-05. Duran had two top ten finishes this season and finished in a tie for 12th at the MWC Championships with an 18-over 231.
