FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Colorado State University women's golf team will have its work cut out if it wants to dethrone New Mexico as Mountain West Conference champion.

The Rams will begin that task today with the first of three rounds at Sunriver Resort's Meadows Course in Sunriver, Ore.

CSU began the 2001-2002 season as if it could contend with New Mexico, which has won both MWC titles and holds 10 of the tournament's 12 records. The Rams won their first tournament, the Ptarmigan Ram Classic, then finished third, fifth and second in their other fall tournaments.
