BYU's Summerhays Named McLeodUSA Women's Golfer of the Week

Sophomore captures medalist honors at EWG/Lady Aztec Invitational. (3/30)

Sophomore Carrie Summerhays of BYU is the McLeodUSA Mountain West Conference Women's Golfer of the Week after winning her first individual title of the season and the third of her career as the Cougars placed sixth (20 teams) at the EWG/Lady Aztec Invitational held at Willow Glen Golf Course in El Cajon, Calif. March 27-28. Summerhays, from Heber City, Utah, shot a season-low round of 70 on the first day of play, followed by a 75 on the second day, for a tournament total of 145. Summerhays shared the individual title with Pam Sowden of Oregon, who shot a 73-72=145 (108 participants). She has led the Cougars in all eight tournaments played this season and has had four top five finishes.

McLeodUSA Mountain West Conference Women's Golfer of the Week: March 2 - Heather Rollo, So., SDSU, March 16 - Jessi Santesson, Jr., WYO, March 30 - Carrie Summerhays, So., BYU.
