COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UNLV junior Elena Kurokawa captured her second straight Mountain West Conference Golfer of the Month Award after two top-five finishes at the Spartan Invitational and the UNLV Spring Invite during the month of March.

In the opening round of the Spartan Invitational, Kurokawa shot a four-under 67 on the way to finishing second (out of 75 participants) with a three-round score of two-under 211 (67-73-71) on the par 71, 5,826 yard course. As a team, UNLV tied for fourth with the University of California.

At the UNLV Spring Invite, March 14-16, Kurokawa finished fourth with a three-round total of seven-over 223 on the par 72, 6,009 yard course. After starting the tournament with a six-over 78 on the first 18 holes, Kurokawa shot a 73 and 72, respectively, on the final 36-holes to earn her third straight top-10 finish this spring. UNLV placed sixth overall as a team.
