MWC Women's Golfer Of The Month For February
UNLV's Da Sol Chung garners monthly honor.
March 2, 2006 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UNLV freshman Da Sol Chung has been named the Mountain West Conference Women's Golfer of the Month for February. This marks the first monthly award for Chung. The Seoul, Korea, native tied for third at the Wildcat Invitational in Tucson, Ariz., Feb. 20-21, en route to shooting a 4-under 209 (71-69-69). Her 209 broke the UNLV school record for low 54-hole tournament score. The tied-for-third finish was the best of Chung's short career at UNLV, and it came in a tournament that featured 11 of the top 15 teams in the country among the 18 squads in the field. Chung carded back-to-back rounds of 69 (-2) in the final two rounds to help UNLV to a sixth-place team finish at the Wildcat Invitational. The third-place finish is her fourth-straight top-10 finish this year and in five tournaments, she has been in the top 20 in all of them. For the season, Chung has appeared in five tournaments and currently leads the MWC with a 72.00 stroke average.
