COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - TCU freshman Valentine Derrey has been selected the Mountain West Conference Women's Golfer of the Month for February.

The Paris, France, native became the first TCU freshman since 1997 to win a tournament. In just her second collegiate contest, Derrey won the individual title at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic with a 1-over-par 217. The field included 10 of the top-50 players in the nation, including No. 1 Taylor Leon (Georgia).

Derrey's first-round 5-under-par 67, which included a 32 on the back nine holes, tied a TCU record.
