LAS VEGAS - BYU is holding on to a top five finish in the last tournament of the fall season.

Cougars shot 311-308-619 in the first two rounds of the Las Vegas Collegiate Shootout to position themselves in fifth only two shots back of fourth place San Jose State.

Sophomore Margaret Gibby led the pack and the tournament after a first round score of 73 and is now tied for 10th with 77 in today's round. Freshman Symantha Mendenhall and Sophomore Natalie Newren sit tied for 21st with 77-78-155 and 79-76-155. Junior Nicole Newren came back with 84-77-161 to tie for 42nd. Senior Jessica Gardner carded 82-84-166 to tie for 48th. Freshman Danielle von Arnim is competing individually and is also tied for 21st with 80-75-155.

New Mexico sits in first and holds a five-shot lead over UNLV going into Wednesday's round. UNLV's Sunny Oh will be watching her back while New Mexico's Kailin Downs and Kristi Laresen, as well as, Pepperdine's Lindsey Wright all sit only one shot back individually.

Wednesday's final round begins with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
