Honolulu - The seventh-ranked University of New Mexico women's golf team is in fifth place after two rounds at the 2002 Rainbow Wahine Golf Classic being held in Kapolei, Oahu. The Lobos 36-hole 606 is 25 shots behind tournament leader California (581). Rounding out the top-five include UCLA (596), Stanford (599), BYU (605) and New Mexico. Individually Cal's Sophia Sheridan sits atop the leaderboard with a 143 (-1). UNM?s Kailin Downs is tied for third place with a 145 (75-70) heading into the final round. Lobo sophomore Christina Spence is tied for 26th with a 153 (79-74) followed by junior Katrina Leckovic who is tied for 41st with a 156 (79-77). Junior Kellyn Newman is tied for 52nd with a 158 (76-82) and freshman Kelli Van Winkle is tied for 61st with a 160 (84-76).
The final round is being played today, Oct. 30 with a shotgun start at 7:30
a.m. HST. at the Kapolei Golf course which plays to a par 72 on 5,900 yards.
