SAN DIEGO - The Colorado State women's golf team shot a 595 on the first day of the Aztec Invitational.

The Rams were led on the first day by Lynette Duran. Duran fired a first round of 68 and then followed with a 78 in the second.

Dawna Virdell continued her consistent play shooting rounds of 73 and 75. Stephanie Linnell is three strokes back of Virdell with a score of 151. Trisha Quick and Kylee King round out the Ram lineup with scores of 153 and 157, respectively.

San Diego State leads the tournament with a team score of 584.

Head Coach Angie Hopkins was pleased with the first day.

"This is the best golf that we have played so far this season," said Hopkins. "We need to keep our momentum going."

Colorado State will return to the course tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. for a shotgun start.
