New Mexico Jumps Three Spots at Women's Golf Championships UNM Tied For 21st; Ferrini tied for 11th Individually.

Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. -- The University of New Mexico women's golf team climbed three spots after the second round of the 2001 NCAA Women's Golf Championships. New Mexico is tied with Ohio State for 21st place with two rounds remaining.
The 72-hole tournament runs through Fri., May 25 and is being played at El Campeon Golf Course at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort which is co-host with Stetson University and the Central Florida Sports Authority.
Improving on their first round performance, New Mexico shaved 11 shots off their score of 318 to card a second round 307 (+19). The Lobos now total 625.
Individually for New Mexico junior Claudia Ferrini continues to improve shooting a second round 70 (-2). Ferrini is now tied for 11th place, jumping 35 places in the standings. Ferrini is eight shots behind tournament leader Laura Moffat from UCLA (138 * -4) and is +2 for the tournament (146).
Senior Ryley Webb had the second best performance for the Lobos today shooting a 76 (+4) which places her tied for 80th. Freshman Kristi Larsen is tied for 96th after carding a 79 (+7). Larsen totals 159. Senior Elisa Kase shot a second round 82 and totals 163 tying her for 111th. Rounding out the Lobo squad is freshman Kellyn Newman who is in 122nd with a 169 (83-86).
