AUBURN, Ala. - The New Mexico women's golf team moved from a tie for 16th to ninth place on the second day of the NCAA Championships held at the par-72, 6,215-yard Grand National Lake Course. UNM shot a 4-over 292 and has a two-round total of 20-over-par 596. The Lobos are 24 shots behind leader UCLA. The Bruins lead Duke by one shot. The second round was delayed due to lightning at 4:45 p.m. MST with 12 teams still on the course, however, and play was suspended for the rest of the day. Round three begins Thursday morning. The Lobos tee off at 12:20 p.m. Mountain Time.

Junior Kailin Downs shot the best round of the day for UNM with a 1-under 71 and stands at 3-over for the tournament (76-71--147). Katrina Leckovic is at 149 (+5) after shooting a 3-over par 75 in the second round.Ashley Rollins has a score of 75-73--148 (+4), and Christine Fernandez is at 77-73--150 (+6). Shannon Johnson also improved in the second round, and is 8-over at 152 (77-75).
