Rams Tied For 12th Following First Round Campos paces Colorado State with a three-over-par 75.

STANFORD, Calif. - Colorado State University's women's golf team, making its second consecutive NCAA Championships appearance, is tied for 12th following the first of three rounds of play in the West Region hosted by Stanford University. Pepperdine is the team leader following a one-over 289 after the first round, seven strokes ahead of UCLA and eight better than the University of California. The Rams shot a 27-ver 315 Thursday to tie the University of San Francisco for 12th place among 21 teams. Freshman Kristen Campos from Mesa, Ariz., paced Colorado State Thursday with a three-over-par 75, six shots behind individual leader Katherine Hull of Pepperdine, who shot a three-under 69, one shot ahead of New Mexico Kristi Larson and Lorena Ochoa of the University of Arizona.
Campos is tied for 17th heading into the second round Friday.
Stephanie Linnell is tied for 42nd after shooting a six-over 78.
Lynette Duran, the freshman from Lakewood, Colo., who won the Mountain
West Conference individual title a week ago, is tied for 52nd, seven
over, 79. Bridget Johnson is tied for 82nd, 11 over, 83, and Mayumi
Motoyama is tied for 95th, 13 over 85.
The tournament concludes with a final round of 18 holes Saturday. The
top eight teams plus two individuals advance to the NCAA Championships
May 21-23 in Auburn, Wash. Last season, Colorado State earned the
school's first-ever NCAA appearance and finished 15th in the West Region
in Corvallis, Ore.
