SUNRIVER, Ore. - The University of New Mexico collected its third consecutive Mountain West Conference Women's Golf Championship today on the Meadows Course (Par 71/6,180) at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore. The Lobos overcame a four-stoke deficit on the final day with a third-round 284 to post a 54-hole total of 882. The Lobos won the title by 11 strokes over second place San Diego State, who shot a final round 299 and a tournament total of 893. Colorado State finished third with a score of 898, followed by BYU (900), UNLV (905) and Wyoming (954).

Colorado State freshman Lynette Duran held her two-stroke advantage during the final day, shooting a three-over 74, to win the individual medalist honors with a three-day total of three-over 216. San Diego State senior Heather Rollo (73-72-73) and New Mexico sophomore Kristi Larsen (68-68-72) tied for second with a five-over 218.

2002 MWC Women's Golf All-Conference Team Announced At Championship

SUNRIVER, Ore. - The Mountain West Conference announced its all-conference team and individual awards at the conclusion of its women's golf championship today at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore. New Mexico's Kailin Downs became the first golfer in the three-year history of the league to garner both the Player and Freshman of the year honors, while Coach of the Year accolades went to Jackie Booth of New Mexico for the second straight year.

New Mexico placed a record four players on the all-conference team, followed by Colorado State with two and BYU with one. The Lobos Claudia Ferrini and Kristi Larsen along with the Rams Mayumi Motoyama are all two-time all-conference selections. The All-MWC team consists of six players, but Lynette Duran of Colorado State was added to the team after capturing the MWC Women's Golf individual title.
