BEND, Ore. - UNLV battled 18-holes of rainy conditions to capture its second straight Mountain West Conference Women's Golf Championship Saturday at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Oregon. After a team score of 21-over, 292 in a wet and soggy final round, the 25th-ranked Rebels posted a three-day total of 898 to claim the 2005 championship by two strokes over 14th-ranked New Mexico, who finished with a 54-hole total of 900. This was the third consecutive year the Mountain West Conference Women's Championship has been decided by two strokes or less. In 2003, New Mexico won the team title by one stroke over UNLV (890-891), while last year the Rebels defeated the Lobos (856-858) and halted New Mexico's streak of four straight Conference titles. Colorado State collected its fourth third place finish in the last six years with a team total of 907. BYU was fourth with a score of 925, followed by San Diego State fifth (954) and Wyoming sixth (993).

Individually, UNLV's Elena Kurokawa won the individual title with a three-day total of one-over 214 on the par 71, 6,312 yard Meadows Course.
