SUNRIVER, Ore. -- The 14th-ranked New Mexico women's golf team, looking for its fifth Mountain West title in six years, moved to within one shot of the lead heading into the final round of the Mountain West Championships with a 10-over 294 in Friday's second round. The Lobos gained four strokes on defending champion and 25th-ranked UNLV. The final round of the tournament is set for Saturday at the par-71, 6,312-yard Meadows Course on the Sunriver Resort; live stats will be available at www.GolfStat.com.

Overall, the Lobos are 26-over at 300-294--594, while the Rebels are 25-over at 295-298--593. Colorado State sits in third place with a 302-298--600 (+32).

Individually, junior Christine Fernandez is in third place with a 4-over 146 (72-74), only four shots behind leader Elena Kurokawa of UNLV.

Sophomore Ashley Rollins carded the best round of the day of any player in the tournament with an even-par 71 to move into a tie for seventh place. Rollins is 7-over (78-71--149) for the tournament. Her 71 matched a season-low round.

Senior Christina Spence is in a tie for 10th with a 72-79--151 (+9), while fellow senior Kailin Downs is tied for 13th with a 78-75--153 (+11).

Giselle Claux shot her best round since late October as she fired a 3-over 74, moving her up to 16th place as she is now 12-over (80-74--154) after two rounds.
