New Mexico claimed the top spot at the 2009 Mountain West Conference Women's Golf Championship at the Black Horse Golf Course in Seaside, Calif. The win marked the Lobos' second consecutive MWC Women's Golf Championship title and sixth overall after winning four straight titles from 2000-2003. New Mexico carded a final round 305 and 54-hole total of 903. TCU finished with a final round 310 for a 917 total to earn second place honors. UNLV shot 300 on the last day and 920 for the championship, placing them third in the seven-team field. Colorado State was fourth with a score of 921, followed by BYU fifth (938), Wyoming sixth (942) and San Diego State seventh (946).

Jonelle Martinez of Wyoming captured the individual title after firing a final round four-under-par 76, giving her a championship total of five-over 221. Martinez is the second Wyoming golfer to win the MWC Championship after Jordan Lintz won in 2000. The senior also shot the low-round of the tournament, a 2-under 70 in the first round. New Mexico's Britney Choy finished two strokes behind Martinez, carding a championship total of seven-over 223. UNLV's Therese Koelbaek also earned medalist honors, finishing third with an eight-over 224.
