New Mexico Holds Four-Stroke Lead over TCU and BYU After First Round of 2009 Mountain West Conference Women's Golf Championship

New Mexico leads the seven-team field after the first day of action at the 2009 Mountain West Conference Women's Golf Championship at the Black Horse Golf Course in Seaside, Calif. The Lobos carded a team total of 301 (+13) for round one and hold a four-shot advantage over TCU and BYU, who currently sit tied for second place at 305 (+17). UNLV is fourth with a team score of 306 (+18), followed by Wyoming (309), San Diego State (312) and Colorado State (314).

Individually, Wyoming's Jonelle Martinez shot a personal-best two-under-par 70 to take the first-round lead. UNLV's Therese Koelbaek sits two strokes behind Martinez in second place with an even-par 72.
