Nov. 20, 2009

CENTENNIAL, Colo. - The Mtn. - MountainWest Sports Network in conjunction with the TCU Film/Television/Digital Media Department has announced the addition of six women's basketball telecasts to the 2009-10 broadcast schedule.

TCU Film/Television/Digital Media Department students will be responsible for all facets of the game production, while The Mtn. provides the broadcast platform.

"The benefit of this partnership was exhibited during the women's volleyball season and the fact that we are extending it to basketball is evidence of how successful this endeavor has been," said Steve Hurlbut, senior executive producer & director of programming for The Mtn. "The addition of these six games allows us to expand the roster of women's basketball games we're offering this season; an additional benefit for the teams, women's basketball, and the viewers from an exposure standpoint. We offer opportunities such as this to each of the nine Conference institutions, and we're excited that TCU has taken advantage of this great opportunity."

Four of the six games added to the schedule will be broadcast live, with the other two shown on same-day tape delay.

"Our partnership with The Mtn. has provided an unbelievable opportunity for the FTDM program," added Michael Martin, instructor for the TCU Film/Television/Digital Media Department. "All of our students are involved in some way with the game day production, whether it's pulling cable, operating cameras and replay equipment, or directing the broadcast. In fact, the productions are almost 100% student run. I don't know of another school that has its student productions broadcast to such a large audience. This opportunity is only possible thanks to the cooperation of The Mtn., TCU athletics and the FTDM Department."

Additional events produced by the TCU Film/Television/Digital Media Department and aired by The Mtn., including men's basketball and baseball, will be announced on a future date.
