COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -¬ UNLV guard Kelli Thompson has earned Mountain West Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors for games played from Nov. 11-13, 2011. It is the second weekly honor for Thompson in her career. The first was as a freshman in 2009-10.

Thompson, a 6-0 junior from Compton, Calif., led the Lady Rebels to a 2-0 start on the season and earned Most Valuable Player honors at the Iowa Hawkeye Challenge over the weekend. UNLV beat Butler on Saturday, Nov. 12, 62-39, and beat host Iowa, 69-59, on Sunday afternoon to win the tournament. Thompson scored 16 points and grabbed three rebounds against Butler. Against Iowa, which has been receiving votes in the preseason polls, Thompson led the Lady Rebels with 26 point, shooting .526 (10-19) from the field.

For the week, Thompson averaged 21.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game. She shot .467 (14-30) from the field, including .389 (7-18) from three-point range, and .875 (7-8) from the free throw line.
