SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's basketball team is receiving votes in both the 2009-10 Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today Coaches' preseason top 25 national polls. The Aztecs garnered the 29th-most votes (78 points) by the AP, while the team posted the 35th-most votes (39 points) in the coaches' edition.

SDSU was joined by TCU as the only two Mountain West Conference schools mentioned in both polls. San Diego State earned votes in the Associated Press Top 25 six times in 2008-09, a program first since 1997. The team ended last season with five votes in the final coaches' poll after advancing to the second round of the NCAA tournament and compiling a 24-8 overall record.

The Aztecs have potentially seven regular-season games against teams receiving votes in either preseason poll in 2009-10, including match-ups with No. 4/7 Notre Dame and No. 13/8 Oklahoma on back-to-back days at the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Nov. 26-27. Besides TCU, who San Diego State plays twice, Arizona (Nov. 21), South Carolina (Nov. 28) and Auburn (Dec. 30) are all receiving votes.

The Aztecs were tabbed 22nd nationally by two preseason publications and were picked to win the Mountain West Conference in 2010, in a vote of the league's coaches and select media last month. They return four of five starters, including 2009 honorable mention All-American Jené Morris (San Francisco, Calif.), all-time career assists leader Quenese Davis (Sacramento, Calif.) and preseason all-MWC choice junior Paris Johnson (San Diego, Calif.).

San Diego State plays its first and only exhibition game this coming Friday, Nov. 6, when Point Loma Nazarene travels east to Viejas Arena for a 7 p.m. tip-off. General admission tickets are only $4 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster at 619-220-8497 or via ticketmaster.com. Fans can also visit the Viejas Arena Box Office or the Aztec Ticket Office at Qualcomm Stadium (window E).
