Air Force women's basketball sophomore forward Jenny Bandi and junior forward Kathleen Schjodt were named to the spring 2009 Academic All-Mountain West Conference team, announced by the conference office today. This is the first Academic All-MWC honor for both players.

Schjodt, a native of Hot Springs, S.D., holds a 3.65 grade point average and is majoring in aeronatical engineering. The senior-to-be was fifth on the team in scoring during the 2008-09 season, averaging 4.7 points per game. She also pulled down 2.6 rebounds per game and and made 75.5 percent of her free throw attempts.

Bandi, a native of Winchester, Mass., holds a 3.94 grade point average and is majoring in political science. The junior-to-be appeared in 17 games as a reserve, averaging 0.8 points and 0.5 rebounds per game. She also shot 50.0 percent from the field and made 83.3 percent of her free throw attempts.

A total of 772 student-athletes were named to the spring 2009 Academic All-Mountain West Conference team. The previous high was 731, set twice before in the spring semesters of 2008 and 2006. Spring sports include baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's golf, softball, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's track and field. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.
