SAN DIEGO - Shanna Demus, a junior forward on this year's Aztec women's basketball team, received the Academic Initiative Medal (A.I.M.) at Monday's 13th annual Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet. The A.I.M award is presented to a student-athlete who demonstrates a persistent commitment to his or her academic goals.

Demus was one of 11 current and former Aztec women's basketball players honored at the banquet for posting at least a 3.0 cumulative or a 3.2 semester GPA during the calendar year of 2006.
